South Dakota's Janklow Under Fire for Internet Use

The governor's use of state e-mail to shop is being scrutinized.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Gov. Bill Janklow is being criticized for using his state e-mail to shop for parts for his ski boat.

The issue has raised questions because just weeks after the ads seeking parts were placed on an electronic bulletin board in 2001, 20 South Dakota government workers were fired or suspended for using state computers for activities such as gambling, visiting pornographic Internet sites, checking stock prices and shopping online.
