TSA Names Brian Delauter Federal Security Director for Savannah

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has named Brian Delauter as the federal security director for Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport and seven other airports in Georgia and South Carolina. Delauter comes to Savannah from Jacksonville, Fla., where he served most recently as assistant federal security director.

"Brian's diverse aviation background and experience with TSA give him a unique and well rounded perspective on the responsibilities of a federal security director," said Mo McGowan, TSA's assistant administrator for Security Operations. "His understanding of airport and aviation security will be a significant asset to TSA operations in Savannah."

Delauter began his career as a flight instructor at Elgin Air Force Base in Florida and later became a commercial airline pilot. In 2002 he went to work for the Lockheed Martin Training Team and helped train newly-hired screening officers as part of the post 9/11 federalization of airports. He joined TSA that same year as a stakeholder liaison and was appointed assistant federal security director at Jacksonville in 2006.

Delauter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in aviation management from the Florida Institute of Technology.

He also will serve as federal security director for commercial airports in Albany, Athens, Augusta, Brunswick, Columbus and Valdosta in Georgia and Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.
