Since its official launch yesterday, July 18, 2006, use of the San Diego County Regional Crime Mapping Application for Public Safety (MAPS) has been tremendous -- with more than three million hits recorded in fewer than 24 hours. As a result of its success, the Automated Regional Justice Information System (ARJIS) is in the process of adding increased system capacity.
"We designed the system to add capacity as needed and we are able to do that quickly to respond to the demand from residents," said Hon. Steve Padilla, SANDAG Public Safety Committee chair.
