Washington State Library Launches New Public Blog

"Using this technology we can reach out to more people, acquainting them with all the Library has to offer"

The Washington State Library recently introduced a new blog in an effort to spark public interest in events, new additions to collections and research tools available.

"With the increasing popularity of websites such as blogs, we encourage our community to explore the State Library online," said Secretary of State Sam Reed. "Using this technology we can reach out to more people, acquainting them with all the Library has to offer."

The public now also has the opportunity to join in discussions about the library by posting their comments online.

"We are proposing new ways for people to come and discover the State Library," said State Librarian Jan Walsh. "The public will enjoy engaging in our events, tuning in to local speakers, and delving into our historical and genealogical records."

In addition to visiting the blog, users may also subscribe to the blog via RSS feeds. Some users, who already use an RSS/Atom feed aggregator such as Bloglines, My Yahoo!, or FeedReader, will be able to subscribe to the blog posts.
