Washoe County, Nevada Launches New Online Recruitment Solution

EPI-USE America announced yesterday the completion of another successful project for Washoe County, Nevada. The online recruiting (OLR) solution was developed especially to suit Washoe County's public sector recruitment and selection needs.

EPI-USE previously partnered with Washoe County, Nevada for their SAP implementation in 2003. After a successful go-live in December 2003, the county looked to EPI-USE for help modernizing its process for managing employment applications. As one of the largest regional employers, the pressure was on for Washoe County to develop a state-of-the-art system that fully encompassed the needs of all Washoe staff, from recruitment analysts to hiring managers.

Designed to be a complete "requisition-to-hire" tool, the OLR solution needed to provide for:

-- An application process housed 100% online, eliminating the need to process paper applications,

-- E-mail notification to applicants on the status of their application,

-- Automatic routing of applications, resumes and supporting documentation to the County departments involved in the hiring process,

-- Easy uploading of Scantron scores into the OLR system for test results and analysis.

Said Katey Fox, recruitment and selection manager for Washoe County Human Resources, "We were working with unfamiliar technology, but the EPI-USE team really worked hard to guide us through the process and to trouble-shoot along the way."

The project has been hugely successful. Since implementing the award-winning OLR solution, a wide range of changes have been noted by the Recruitment team; the quantity and quality of applicants have gone up dramatically while simultaneously eliminating the need for Washoe staff to respond with an estimated 16,000 letters to the more than 8,000 paper applications received yearly. Foot traffic in the Human Resources department has dropped by an estimated 80%, freeing up county employees for other tasks. And response time for applicants has dropped from five days to mere seconds with instant e-mail confirmation. All of this adds up to time and money saved for the County.

The OLR system is also contributing to higher caliber candidates showing interest in Washoe County. "We're seeing more 'next-generation' applicants, those who embrace technology and are willing to bring that expertise and talent to Washoe County. Everyone wins," commented Fox.
