The Web site, said a WHO release, seeks to better reflect the spectrum of WHO programs that support the Government of China in its efforts to strengthen public health in the world's most populous country.
WHO works directly with the Ministry of Health of China -- as well as with other ministries, UN agencies and various health partners -- on programs ranging from emerging infectious diseases to HIV/AIDS, from tuberculosis to chronic non-communicable diseases, from health systems development to tobacco control.
China has an ever-increasing population using the Internet as a useful and convenient way to access and convey valuable information. The new site will provide information in English and its Chinese-language content will grow.
