Alabama Launches Online Directory of High-Tech Companies

"This directory will help businesses around the globe connect with Alabama firms that can supply the technical services and products they require"

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) has launched an easy one-stop source for finding high-tech companies in the state with the new High-Tech Directory.

The directory makes company information readily available to firms around the world who are interested in doing business with Alabama's growing high-tech industries.

"Alabama has a wealth of world-class high tech companies," said Alabama Gov. Bob Riley. "This directory will help businesses around the globe connect with Alabama firms that can supply the technical services and products they require."

The directory contains information on more than 200 Alabama companies categorized in aerospace, automotive, biotech, commercial and industrial machinery, communications, electronics, engineering and testing, information technology, and optical media and equipment industries. It serves as a recruitment tool for other high-tech industries and enables existing companies -- who might have been unfamiliar with one another -- to work together.

The directory is searchable by county, region or category. Each listing includes the company name and location, contact information, Web site address, number of employees and a description of the products or services offered. The site is updated regularly to ensure company information is current.

ADECA maintains the directory site, which was developed by the University of Alabama in Huntsville. The site's development was funded by a grant awarded to the university by Riley.
