TRENTON, N.J. -- Poorly trained clerks, an antiquated computer system, and two full-time auditors to keep tabs on more than 40 field offices help make the New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicle Services an agency ripe for corruption.
The neglected DMV is plagued by low morale, high turnover, and an inability to police its depleted ranks or ensure that the 5.7 million licensed drivers in New Jersey are who they claim to be.
