Louisiana CIO Chad McGee Leaves Office

Longtime public executive and IT guru Chad McGee departs from office on the 13th

Chad McGee resigned as Louisiana CIO effective February 13, saying he will return to the private sector. Commissioner of the Division of Administration (DOA) Jerry Luke LeBlanc will oversee OIT and the state IT budgets until a new CIO is found.

"Being the CIO has been an invaluable experience," said McGee. "It has been tough, but we have made a lot of progress and gotten some good discounts on our IT."

McGee worked closely with OIT to centralize and consolidate IT resources within the state, reducing costs and increasing efficiency. He was originally appointed by Mike Foster (Louisiana's prior governor), and served Louisiana's previous administration for three years.

Before his appointment to CIO, McGee had worked at Louisiana State University for 10 years where he advanced the use of technology to streamline academic and financial processes. He served as an account executive at Nortel Networks. He also worked for the University of Arkansas, and as a technical consultant for Washington County in Fayetteville, Ark.
