Oklahoma City Awards Contract for Integrated Public Safety System

Six-year contract with a projected value of $18.8 million

Oklahoma City awarded Affiliated Computer Services Inc. (ACS) a contract to develop a comprehensive communications and software solution for an integrated public safety system. The six-year contract has a projected value of $18.8 million.

"This public safety technology refresh will result in the integration and enhancement of police, fire, and court systems, including a robust wireless communications infrastructure needed to provide the high level of public safety that our citizens deserve," said Kerry Wagnon, program director for Oklahoma City's Public Safety Capital Projects Office.

ACS is providing system integration and project management services in partnership with the following sub-contractors: SmartCOP, which offers computer aided dispatch, police records, field-based reporting, and jail management software; Tropos, which offers high-speed Wi-Fi communications between the city's data center and the mobile police and fire vehicles; ETI, which offers fire records management and field-based reporting software; and Panasonic, which through its Turnkey Mobile product provides mobile computers for police and fire vehicles. The software and hardware is projected to be operational by July 2005 with complete installation by December 2005.
