Phoenix Names Rob Sweeney Assistant CIO

As Assistant CIO, Sweeney will manage the Enterprise Technical Operations Division, city's IT Project Management Office; and ITD's administrative functions.

The city of Phoenix Information Technology Department recently named Rob Sweeney as Assistant Chief Information Officer.

As Assistant CIO, Sweeney will manage the Enterprise Technical Operations Division, which includes the Phoenix Regional Wireless Network that supports public safety and municipal radio communication; the city's IT Project Management Office; and ITD's administrative functions including financial and human resources and cable TV contract administration.

Sweeney has more than 18 years experience with the city, including 12 with ITD.

"Rob has worked in or managed every division in the department," said Chief Information Officer Charles Thompson. "He has tremendous management, business and process skills to be successful as assistant CIO."

Sweeney received a bachelor of science in Business Administration with a major in Finance from Northern Arizona University and a master in business administration from Arizona State University.
