TSA Awards $308 Million Managed Services Contract

Contract will serve as a "bridge" between services from the previous Information Technology Managed Services (ITMS) contract and DHS's implementation of a department-wide business IT solution

The Transportation Security Administration awarded Unisys Corp. a "bridge" contract to continue building, securing and managing the information technology infrastructure for TSA, and for DHS headquarters facility.

The contract is an indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity contract with a term of one base year with two one-year options which are exercisable at the discretion of the government. The government's estimated value of the base year is $308 million ($265 million for TSA and $43 million for DHS). The total ceiling value of the three-year period is no more than $750 million.

This contract will serve as a "bridge" between services from the previous Information Technology Managed Services (ITMS) contract, which expired on January 10, 2006, and DHS's implementation of a department-wide business IT solution. The award extends Unisys original three-year ITMS program to provide continuity of information technology operations to maintain both TSA's and DHS's mission capabilities, which are critical to the agencies' efforts to provide security for passengers on all modes of transportation. Work under the new contract began January 1, 2006.

Unisys and its partners will provide core managed services, such as service/help desk support, maintenance, IT security services and remote network management. Additionally, Unisys will continue hosting applications, provide engineering support and manage infrastructure deployment and implementation.
