Colorado Releases App for 39,000 Miles of Public Trails

The app, created through a partnership between two state agencies, is available through multiple app stores and contains maps and information for several different kinds of outdoor activities.

(TNS) — Colorado now has an official trails app.

The state recently released Colorado Trail Explorer (COTREX), a free web and mobile trails application with more than 39,000 miles of trails statewide for hiking, mountain biking, equestrian riding and motorized recreation.

The app was released in a partnership between the Colorado Department of Natural Resources and Colorado Parks and Wildlife. COTREX began as a project that was part of a ‘Colorado the Beautiful’ initiative from former Gov. John Hickenlooper in 2016.

The app is available in smartphone app store including iTunes, Google Play and on the web at https://www.trails.colorado.gov.

“The COTREX app is a marriage of Coloradoans’ love of the outdoors and using the latest technology to discover more of our beautiful state,” said Colorado Department of Natural Resources Trails and Recreation Manager Alex Dean in a news release.

CPW’s website also offers a FAQ page here on the COTREX app.
