Tech Industry Groups Urge President-Elect Trump to Support Innovation

Sent to Trump on Tuesday, the letter highlights the tech industry’s strengths, referring to the sector as a “powerful engine of economic growth," employing over 5.7 million people and driving more than $1 trillion in the U.S. economy.

In a joint letter sent to Donald Trump, 17 tech industry-group leaders informed the president-elect on ways he can utilize the technology sector to improve the lives of Americans.

Sent to Trump on Tuesday, the letter highlights the tech industry’s strengths, referring to the sector as a “powerful engine of economic growth," employing over 5.7 million people and driving more than $1 trillion in the U.S. economy.

“Our technologies enable growth and unlock efficiencies across the entire U.S. economy,” the letter says. “Indeed, we are increasingly the platform for powering everything from small main street businesses to the leading powerhouse companies that are the envy of the world.”

Calling out their commitment to advance the country’s success, the leaders asked Trump  to consider a list of three principles when setting policy: continuing investment in jobs and an inclusive economy; leveraging America’s technological leadership and strengths; and continuing productivity growth.

The organizations also provided Trump’s transition team recommendations on key positions within an administration that can help power the economy, innovation and investment.
