California Opens RFP for Statewide Tech Contract

The California Department of General Services issued a request for proposal to purchase “PC Goods" to be made available to state-level agencies and participating local governments.

The California Department of General Services (DGS) is working to procure computer equipment for statewide use.

On Wednesday, Feb.1, the agency issued a request for proposal to purchase “PC Goods,” including desktop computers and workstations; thin and zero client desktop computers; notebook computer and mobile workstations; monitors; and rugged laptops. Equipment will be made available to state-level agencies, as well as participating local governments.

While the initial contract term will be for three years, agreements will also provide options for two additional one-year extensions. The historical value based on all current mandatory contracts is more than $113 million over three years.

The RFP does not require submissions pertain to all categories. However, all equipment "must be new and the latest model in current production," according to the RFP. Respondents are required to meet the department’s configuration and technical workbook specifications for each category they choose to bid on.

DGS will hold a bidder’s conference on Feb. 7. The deadlines to submit draft and final proposals are March 1 and 17 respectively. Dates are subject to change.
