DR Telecom has commenced the first phase of its network deployment in Santo Domingo and will deploy multi-spectrum, multi-radio nodes powered by RoamAD's wireless networking platform.
"RoamAD is excited to work with DR Telecom to unwire the Dominican Republic," said Martyn Levy, RoamAD's CEO. "This is the first step in a large project to deliver next generation voice and data services to the country," he added.
The first phase of the Santo Domingo network is scheduled for launch in February 2007 when DR Telecom will offer fixed and mobile voice and broadband data services on a pre-paid basis. The network will also be used for other applications including video surveillance.
"After a long period of due diligence, which included assessment of a number of vendors' products, DR Telecom selected RoamAD's platform due to its flexibility, upgradeability, and high-performance," said Felix Rosario, vice-president, DR Telecom. "We look forward to working with RoamAD to roll out voice and broadband data services across the Dominican Republic," added Rosario.
