Idaho to Offer IFTA License Renewal Online

New service will allow truckers to order decals, view past renewals and file tax returns

Idaho-based truckers who travel in the U.S. and Canada and are licensed under the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) can renew their IFTA licenses and order decals at no extra charge through the state's Trucking Web site.

This year's renewal period ends February 28, but truckers and their tax preparers can order additional decals year-round. They can also access completed renewals online for convenient record keeping. Visa, MasterCard and Discover payments for the Web-based service are made directly through the state's secure payment server.

In addition to renewing IFTA licenses, truckers can file returns for free. The motor carrier Web site will offer online applications for new IFTA licenses in April 2005.

This year, Idaho's transportation industry processed approximately 20 percent of IFTA-related transactions electronically through the state's trucking portal.
