Independent Study Says Four of Five Best Overall Metro Wi-Fi Networks Powered by Tropos

Novarum Wireless Broadband Review says St. Cloud, Mountain View, Anaheim and Philadelphia among top five metro Wi-Fi networks for overall user experience.

Four of the top five metro-scale Wi-Fi networks for overall user experience are powered by the Tropos MetroMesh architecture, according to a new report from Novarum, a firm providing strategic consulting and analysis for the wireless broadband data industry.

Tropos MetroMesh networks in St. Cloud, Florida; Mountain View, California; Anaheim, California; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ranked in Novarum's top five. The St. Cloud CyberSpot not only topped the overall metro Wi-Fi rankings, it beat out even 3G cellular networks to top the rankings for all types of wireless networks and was the only metro Wi-Fi network tested to deliver 100% service availability throughout its coverage area. The Novarum rankings consider coverage, performance, value and ease of use to determine the overall score.

"The St. Cloud network distinguished itself as the top rated network primarily because it had 100% service availability," said Phil Belanger, managing director of Novarum. "The St. Cloud CyberSpot delivered good performance all over town and it is easy to use."

"We are thrilled that Tropos-powered networks in St. Cloud, Mountain View, Anaheim, and Philadelphia deliver a great user experience as judged by the independent testing of Novarum," said Bert Williams, VP marketing for Tropos Networks. "We are especially pleased with the coverage results because none of the tested Tropos-powered networks employ more than 40 routers per square mile and because throughput is often influenced by operational decisions regarding capacity injection and bandwidth management."
