Marion General Hospital in Ohio Goes Live With Interactive Video Translation Service

Live video interpretation services for American Sign Language (ASL), Spanish, and 150 other languages.

Language Access Network has completed Marion General Hospital's first live video interpretation with its product Martti. Marion General Hospital is a division of Ohio Health, is located in Marion, Ohio.

Language Access Network, Inc. provides Marion General's Emergency Department with live video interpretation services for American Sign Language (ASL), Spanish, and 150 other languages. Approximately 49,000 patients visit Marion's ED every year.

"With Martti there's a real benefit to patients, doctors, and staff because they can see and hear and interact with the interpreters," said Gail Loadman, director of emergency services. "This assists our staff in providing the best quality care for those with limited English proficiency and the Deaf and hard of hearing patients whom we encounter everyday."

Recently, the company also announced that Boston Medical Center became the first hospital in the Massachusetts to offer the Martti service to their limited English proficient and Deaf and hard of hearing patients.

Boston Medical Center has more than 28,035 discharges, has more than 900,000 outpatient visits annually. The Interpreter Services program at Boston Medical Center is the most extensive in New England. Last year they assisted in more than 170,000 interactions with patients and visitors.
