Miami Becomes Temporary "Homeland Security Capital" During the UASI National Conference April 10th-April 13th

Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) is part of the Department of Homeland Security's 2007 $1.7 billion budget for State and Local counter terrorism efforts.

Miami will become the capital of the US Homeland Security effort, says one participating company, as 500 UASI representatives from all over the country will come to Miami to attend the UASI National Conference. UASI stands for Urban Area Security Initiative and the UASI initiative is part of the Department of Homeland Security's 2007 $1.7 billion budget for State and Local counter terrorism efforts. The DHS fiscal year's 2007 funding will bring the total spent in this area to $20 billion in local planning, organization, equipment, training and exercises.

A Miami-based provider of counter terrorism training and product solutions, Security Solutions International (SSI), which began operations only three years ago, is firmly on its way to becoming a mainstay of the conference for UASI representatives coming from as far as Honolulu to attend the company's training. SSI is providing an International Expert from Israel who will address the threat that Suicide Terror could pose to US Cities. Part of the UASI priorities are reducing the risks of improvised explosive devices, radiological and biological training. The UASI grants also emphasize the areas of interoperable communications, information sharing and citizen preparedness, all of which will be addressed by the Israeli expert.

"We believe that the public plays an important part in the War on Terror," says Sol Bradman, CEO of SSI. "We are happy and proud to be providing the UASI Conference, not only the Israeli experience with the role the public can play in reducing the threat of Terror but also we are providing the most important training day, the Operational Response to Mass Casualties -- an optional day on Friday where participants will learn how communities should respond to natural calamities and acts of terror to avoid other instances of what happened in New Orleans."

In addition to being the national leader in Homeland Security training, SSI also distributes quality products to help with the War on Terror to cities across the country, in particular Ahura's Explosive detection, Defendertech's milimeter wave camera, Paulson manufacturing safety equipment, Mifram defensive barriers and more.
