"We have been working closely with local government and businesses for nearly two years, and are more than anxious to initiate commercial service before the end of this month" said Barry Pier, president and CEO of WisperTel. "We'll be launching with about 80% coverage day one, and the remainder of the planned service area should be on line before summer."
State-of-the-art pre-WiMAX and WiMAX broadband wireless networks have proven in the last few years to be a very effective, reliable and economical way to provide broadband services to suburban and rural communities that are under-served by other Internet providers.
Basically, an ultra-low power radio signal (less than a cell phone) is transmitted from a tower or rooftop to small antennas mounted on a home or office. This radio signal delivers Internet data symmetrically (same speed up and down), with speeds of up to seven megabits per second (7 Mbps), which is 270 times faster than dialup and much faster than DSL or satellite Internet services. Pier added, "Few other Wireless Internet Service Providers can match the affordable price, high quality and reliability and superior customer support WisperTel has delivered in Denver and is bringing to Summit County."
