Free Wireless Hot Zones Launched in San Francisco

Three hotzones; part of the city's TechConnect program

Three new wireless "hot zones" have been launched in San Francisco as part of the city's TechConnect program. The hotzones were put in place by MetroFi.

Operational in and around San Francisco's Civic Center, Ferry Building and Portsmouth Square in the Financial District, the new hot zones allow anyone with a Wi-Fi enabled device such as a laptop or handheld computer to receive a high-performance, portable link to the Internet. The networks transmit data to these users via access points mounted on street light poles throughout the hot zones.
