Osceola County currently uses Accela to centralize the land and permit management activities of the department. With the addition of Accela GIS, the county will be able to leverage information in its existing GIS database to automate map analysis and speed up the review process. Accela GIS graphically represents a broad range of complex geographic information specific to the active case, application, or permit so agency staff can determine if there are any potential issues or violations with the particular application.
Built on the ESRI ArcIMS platform, Accela GIS provides automated maps from a central database and gives staff direct access to view geographic representations of all land use, zoning, and infrastructure information associated with a parcel, permit, inspection, or plan.
"Most of local government's business information contains a geographical element so agencies are always looking for a better way to integrate GIS data with their land management solutions," Robert P. Lee, Accela's president and CEO, said.
Osceola County serves as the south/central boundary of the Central Florida Region and the Greater Metropolitan Area. The County has been expanding rapidly, experiencing over 60% population growth in the last ten years.
