With the largest installed base of metro-scale wireless deployments by governments and service providers, Tropos' MetroMesh networks carry critical traffic from an extensive range of applications and Wi-Fi devices, including mobile Internet access, residential and SMB Internet access, video surveillance, voice and building management. Striving to continually set the industry milestones for performance and investment value, Tropos sought the most comprehensive, scalable and accurate performance analysis platform.
"Our networks typically carry traffic from police, fire and EMS agencies along with other mobile professionals, so reliability and user experience are paramount," says Roman Arutyunov, director of RAS Architecture at Tropos. "Our networks are highly intelligent and designed to carrier-class standards to carry mission-critical applications under extreme outdoor conditions. The ability to generate actual client traffic using the VeriWave system, and test our system under real world conditions, is invaluable in delivering the highest performance and the resilience these applications demand."
Tropos has used VeriWave's WaveTest 90 traffic generator and test applications to optimize client roaming, voice support, security, and overall mesh network performance and scalability. According to Arutyunov, the WaveTest platform plays a key role in the development testing of new features as well as the next generation of Tropos' products.
"Testing under challenging conditions such as mesh backhaul impairments and network congestion helps ensure that new features will perform to our expectations in actual deployments," Arutyunov says. "With VeriWave, we are able to shorten test cycles while actually increasing test coverage, a huge advantage in terms of bringing better features to market faster. Prior to using WaveTest, half a day would be spent on test setup alone. With VeriWave, our engineers can set up and complete a test within minutes and with minimal effort."
