"Unlike competitive offerings that have demonstrated a 'bad neighbor policy' in recent industry published tests, Xirrus' Sharp Cell functionality reduces interference with other Wi-Fi networks ensuring the performance of an adjacent cell or neighboring network is not degraded," said Bruce Miller, director of product management for Xirrus. "The addition of Sharp Cell functionality into our Wi-Fi Array builds on our advanced RF management capabilities designed to improve the coverage and performance of a Wi-Fi network."
With Sharp Cell functionality, the Wi-Fi Array dynamically controls both transmit power and defer thresholds on a packet-by-packet basis in each sector of the Wi-Fi Array, thereby creating a more defined edge to a Wi-Fi cell and additionally improving the utilization of higher data rates throughout a cell.
In addition to Sharp Cell functionality, the Wi-Fi Array employs several advanced RF management features, delivering the largest coverage area and highest performing Wi-Fi network, including:
* Sectored Antenna System
-- Delivers per-sector control of transmit power and receiver
-- Provides interference reduction from other access points
and clients
-- Reduces hidden node problems
* Channel Allocation Per Sector
-- Maximizes the reuse of non-overlapping channels per cell
* Dynamic Channel Assignment
-- Optimizes settings based upon changing environment
conditions
* Load Balancing
-- Moves clients between radios to optimize performance
Sharp Cell functionality comes standard in every Wi-Fi Array and is available today to all Xirrus customers at no incremental charge.
