The Pandemic Is Ending With a Whimper

This is an ivory tower opinion.

I have to say that I really, really get annoyed with high highfalutin experts with credentials who have no practical experience and no understanding of ground truth.

Read this article, and tell me if you think the pandemic needs to move into the recovery phase? The Pandemic Is Ending With a Whimper

I caught Ms. Kayyem on a POTUS radio show. The more I listened the more I... got annoyed. Does she make some good points—sure. But, to say with over 1,000 deaths a day and 100,000 cases that we need to "move on" into recovery is crazy! If you have provided services during the pandemic, are working in a hospital now, or are ramping up your PPE distribution again—not to mention testing kits being back in the news... Recovery, really!

I agree that attorneys, risk managers, public health experts "advise decision makers" who actually are charged with making a decision. But to say an elected official should become the "recovery czar" (my term) might make sense—when we get to the recovery phase!

The thought strikes me that an article like the above could be written by some college student with no boots on the ground experience with the same conclusions. Not an expert opinion and based on what she wrote above I would not read her "soon to be published" book.
