$25,000 in Technology Grants for Montana Classrooms

"This is a great opportunity for teachers to be creative and show the state what is new and exciting in classroom teaching."

Montana First Lady Nancy Schweitzer encourages teachers to apply for grants of up to $5,000 from the Qwest Foundation to improve classroom education through the use of technology. The Montana ACTE (Association for Career & Technical Education) has partnered with Qwest to provide financial resources to teachers who have developed creative ways to use technology to improve student learning. The purpose of the grant is to identify, highlight and recognize Montana K-12 Career and Technical Education teachers who are using technology in the classroom in new and innovative ways to improve student performance, and to share this information so that others can do the same.

First Lady Nancy Schweitzer said, "This is a great opportunity for teachers to be creative and show the state what is new and exciting in classroom teaching." The Governor and First Lady's Math & Science Initiative supports innovative teaching practices that spark an interest in students to study and pursue careers in math, science, and technology.

The deadline is November 1, 2007 for teachers to apply for grants of up to $5,000. Applicants will be asked to submit a proposal detailing how they will use the funds to support and enhance learning with technology. Application information is available on the Montana ACTE Web site.
