California Community Colleges Sign Agreement to Offer Single Sign-On

All 112 community colleges in the state will be accessible to students, faculty and staff with one user ID.

The California Community College Chancellor’s Office has signed an agreement that will lead to all 112 community colleges in the state joining a federation that provides users with single sign-on to on-campus, off-campus and cloud resources.

With the addition of the community colleges to the InCommon Federation, the group will encompass almost 600 institutions of higher education, according to the not-for-profit Internet2 organization, which operates InCommon.

“The California Community College system, for example, will enable students and faculty affiliated with more than one college to see the immediate benefits of a single sign-on no matter which of the 112 campuses they are visiting or which online service they are using.  Significant services developed and hosted by one CCC campus can now be made available to any of the other California colleges without the need to issue new IDs to existing faculty, staff or students,” Internet2 said.
