Virginia Announces Winning Technology Programs

Judges included representatives of state, local and educational government interests.

Virginia Gov. Timothy M. Kaine today announced the winners of Virginia's annual Governor's Technology Award program for excellence in use of information technology and telework programs in both the public and private sectors.

The winners are:

  • Virginia Dept of Business Assistance, "Business One Stop"
  • Honorable Mention to the Virginia Department of Transportation, "ARRA Reporting Tool"
  • Virginia Departments of Mines, Minerals and Energy and Transportation, "The Digital Signature Project"
  • Virginia Department of Emergency Management, "The V.I.P.E.R. Project"
  • Honorable Mention to the Virginia Department of Forestry, "The Forest Protection and Mobile Computing Project"
  • The City of Richmond and York County, "The External Alarm Interface Exchange"
  • Virginia Department of Education, "Virginia on iTunes U"
  • Fairfax County Public Schools, "eCART"
  • Virginia Community College System, "The Virginia Education Wizard"
  • George Mason University, "The Virginia Virtual Computing Lab"
  • Noblis (Best Private-Sector Telework Initiative)
  • The State Board of Elections (Best Public-Sector Telework Initiative)
