Disaster Worker Training in Chico, Calif., August 2nd and 3rd

Classes are free and after completion, students will be sworn in as Disaster Service Workers certified by the California Office of Emergency Services.

The North Valley Animal Disaster Group in Chico, Calif., is holding a weekend class for new volunteers on August 2nd and 3rd. Classes will be held at the city of Chico Fire Training Center at 1466 Humboldt Rd in Chico. The hours are 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. The classes are free and after completion, students will be sworn in as Disaster Service Workers certified by the California Office of Emergency Services.

Classes will include the Incident Command System, Shelter and Evacuation Classes, along with a half-day scenario. According to NVAD's Web site, this training is not usually open to the public, making this a unique opportunity.
