Columbia University Invests in Online Learning by Hiring Director of Online Education

The director will work on creating online education policies and coordinating online learning efforts.

This week, Sandesh Tuladhar started his new job as Columbia University's director of online education, and his first priority will be creating online learning policies for consideration, reports the Columbia Spectator.

The university is not new to online education and already has massive open online courses (MOOCs), flipped classrooms and certification programs. From his new director position, Tuladhar will help build on the university's online learning work and expand flipped classroom projects throughout the university.

Part of his job includes coordinating learning efforts with two MOOC providers, the provost's office, schools and a faculty advisory committee. Moving forward, Tuladhar will set his sights on more hybrid and flipped classrooms that take advantage of education technology tools.
