Does Weather Cause Earthquakes and Slides?

Our scientific method can be a bit cumbersome at times. It takes a theory and many studies to prove a point one way or another--but it is the modern way to determine fact from wishful thinking.

This story in USA Today (from yesterday) talks to the possibility of Earthquake Weather being a factor in when earthquakes occur.

The problem I see is the frequency of the weather systems and if they coincide with earthquakes. It the weather system does coincide with earthquakes then maybe it is the frequency of the events (weather systems) and it is all coincidental. But I'm sure there are wiser minds than mine who will sort this all out.

Watch for the new forecast, "Rain tomorrow, with a 10% chance of an earthquake near the coast."
