FEMA Launches Blog

FEMA is again leading the way for emergency management agencies by launching a blog.

FEMA launched their first blog today.  Craig Fugate led off with a blog posting on what FEMA is doing today on social media and how the blog will be a place for multiple FEMITES to do blog postings in the future.

I also was able to make contact with Jason Lindesmith, the Social Media Lead for FEMA's External Affairs.  He took John Shea's position and has been with FEMA now about six months.  With everything that is popping on social media in emergency management land he will be a key player for FEMA HQ and for us social media types.

It really feels good to have FEMA taking the lead on such an important topic as social media.  The medium will revolutionize how we do things as emergency managers when it comes to so many aspects of our discipline.  All four phases will be impacted, with new capabilities being added, like in warnings, that we have not had previously.  It is something to be happy about in otherwise difficult times.

Way to go Craig and FEMA!
