GIS to Dominate Disaster Response Operations

While many technology companies continue to "find" the emergency management space and bring forth new technology solutions for managing information in the EOC, it is the GIS map that will dominate disaster response operations in the future.

Mapping is becoming simpler to do and with a social media interface and direct field reports being inputted automatically it will be the killer application for situational awareness.

The Virgina GIS work with GIS mapping is but one example of the future unrolling before our eyes.

I also think that a touch screen Smart Board like those that Smart Technologies has is a must have tool in the modern operations Center.
