‘Wanna Hangout?’ And Other Easily Mistaken Social Media Terms

A list of social media terms, so you sound like you know what you're talking about.

Every profession, line of business or clique has its own jargon. Using it tends to set a dividing line between who's in and who's out. I know I've been accused in many discussions and presentations to stop using the alphabet soup of ICS, JIC, ESF, PIO, APIO, NRF, NRP and on and on.

Now that all of you (ahem) are getting on the social media bandwagon, you need to know the jargon that comes with the social media world. This is to help avoid embarrassing situations, such as when a business acquaintance asks if you want to Hangout and you think he/she is getting too friendly.

This list via Ragan's PR Daily will help you tell the difference between Vine and Reddit, plus ping and Tumblr.

Now if I can just figure out this meme thing.
