Wiki on Disaster Preparedness

OK gang, time to do some boning up on technology. I've already done several postings on Wiki and how you can use them.

Then yesterday I met Carol Dunn who works for the American Red Cross by day and at night is a Wiki person. She has put together Resilient 2 Disaster as a Wiki for Western Washington.

It is described as: You have arrived at Ready for Disasters: Western Washington. This website is a Disaster Wiki, or a Disaster-pedia, meaning that it is a knowledge base specializing in information about how communities and individuals can build resilience in the face of natural or human caused disasters. The purpose of "Ready for Disasters" is to help individuals recognize that disaster preparedness steps really do make a huge difference in the ability for communities to be resilient in the face of life's challenges. We've attempted to pull together all of the best resources available on the web to help spark ideas, promote change and to turn interest in disaster preparedness into action.

I think this is cutting edge stuff that we need to start capitalizing on as emergency managers. Give up control for a more robust information sharing tool that builds trust and capacity for your community--in the end, making it more disaster resilient.

Way to go Carol!
