Alaskan Earthquake and Tsunami Warning

Disaster warnings are in the news lately!

I expect that there are some people who objected to being woken up in the middle of the night for a tsunami warning where the wave ended up being six inches high.

Given the size of the earthquake and its location under water and off the Alaskan coast, it was an appropriate warning to be issued. Had the tsunami been a major one, people would have been inconvenienced a great deal more!

Given the weaknesses in our warning systems, greater financial investments are needed by all levels of government to ensure that people who need to be warned — get warned!
