Having good wireless connectivity during a disaster is becoming even more critical as we deploy more technology that relies on wireless communications for data and voice. All the wireless companies offer some type of
Cell on Wheels (COW) to either supplement their coverage when there is a high density of wireless usage, or to fill in for damaged equipment at fixed locations.
Now we see that AT&T has an airborne COW,
AT&T Deploys New Helicopter Flying Cell on Wings in Disaster Exercise. This is just the "tip of the drone" revolution that we'll see buzzing our way in the next few years.
