Beck Disaster Recovery Is Gone, But Wait...

The shakeout of emergency management consulting firms continues.

After doing a stint with ICF international as an emergency management consultant, I have followed the twists and turns of the larger and smaller consulting firms specializing in emergency management.

So it is with interest that I found out that Beck Disaster Recovery, which was bought by SAIC a few years back and then split out from it as part of the spin-off Leidos, has just been sold to Tetra Tech.

There are some twists and turns to follow in all of that. Tetra Tech has been expanding into emergency management over the last few years. My former boss at ICF, John Weber, has worked there since December 2012.

And in other news, ICF International (we used to joke that the ICF stood for "I cost a fortune") is doing an across-the-board 5 percent personnel reduction. Even long-term employees are being given their pink slips. And, for the record, ICF stands for Innner City Fund, which is what it started out as way back when.
