Brownie On FEMA

Ah, I think this is why Hurricane Katrina was a problem for FEMA.

OK, I know I don't always articulate what I'm thinking in the most effective manner.  But, Brownie--please, if there is anything you should have learned it was the response by FEMA and the rest of the federal government to Katrina was too sloooow.

There is just such a huge credibility gap for what Michael Brown would have to say about how to respond to a disaster.  Please...let's at least celebrate that while we have a devastating disaster on our hands the response to date has been excellent.

One of my mantra's for emergency managers is that you can only activate an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) too late, never too early.  Once you get behind in a disaster response there is no catching up.
