Cybersecurity Board Game Used as Simulation

A great example for what King County, Wash., is doing on cybersecurity.

Cybersecurity is an evolving hazard. It seems as though there are several turning points each year when something new raises its head. Last year it was the use of the Internet of Things for denial of service attacks. Who knows what is coming for 2017? Certainly the recent revelations about CIA capabilities raises questions about what other nation states and criminal enterprises have available to them to use against us.

On Feb. 16, the King County Critical Infrastructure Committee conducted the Emerald Down Cybersecurity Exercise. The day-long event included some presentations, and then the conduct of a cybersecurity game played by more than 100 participants at 14 different tables. The Washington state Cybersecurity Annex was exercised as part of this endeavor.

You can see a short video about the event as seen through the eyes of key participants and exercise designers.
