Emergency Management Engaging in Vaccination Efforts

Perhaps your local emergency management office is also helping.

(Friday, January 22nd)

I got this notice from my Pierce County Councilmember for my district:

"This week, the Pierce County Council passed an emergency supplemental budget ordinance setting aside $4 million for the County’s Department of Emergency Management to set up a countywide COVID-19 vaccination system to augment existing vaccine administration by healthcare providers and pharmacies. The Department of Emergency Management plans to set up three mass vaccination sites, combined with mobile vaccination operations and “drop teams” in long-term care facilities and other settings. The goal is to ultimately administer 4,600 vaccinations a day."

I think this type of effort is exactly what emergency management agencies can help with to fight the pandemic beyond coordinating the logistics of personal protective equipment (PPE).
