Emergency Preparedness Planning Basics

How Many Households Have an Emergency Plan?

Every emergency preparedness message has value. It might be the one that engages people to become prepared. This particular one, How Many Households Have an Emergency Plan?, resonated with me.

We were visiting a young family this past week and there was a 5-year-old boy who wanted to do "paperwork." The concept of making a plan, drawing a floor plan for home evacuations and a reunion location would be the type of thing that he would groove on and would get everyone in the household to pay attention to.

If you are an emergency manager, how about setting a good example for not only your family, but also your friends and neighbors? Make a plan, build a kit, get some training!
