"In your Government Technology article of August 28 you noted that "though I've never seen a fire department bomb squad, I wouldn't be surprised if one exists." At least one does indeed exist. Our county is Johnson County KS - a suburban county in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The largest of our many cities, Overland Park, has a bomb squad that is part of the police department. But the second-largest city, Olathe (the county seat), has a bomb squad that is part of the fire department. Both of these train with and if necessary operate with the other bomb squads from the Kansas City region."
