As a sign of the times, I guess it requires FAA approval to fly a drone over a crowd of people. See this story, CNN gets approval to fly news drone.

I also noted another email I got where the sheriff of a county in Washington state is hosting a drone meeting. It confirms what I've written before, that it will be the smaller jurisdictions that will plow the ground on the use of drones by public safety and emergency management agencies. 

Everyone else can stand on the sidelines and watch as these organizations innovate.
