It was the lack of COVID-19 testing that got us to this point--and beyond

It was this first failure that has doomed us to lead the world in infections and eventually in deaths.

Earlier this week I did this blog posting, For Want of a COVID-19 Test, the Shoe Was Lost.

In it, I itemized other possible shortages or leadership that got us into our current fix. However, after reading this article, How U.S. coronavirus testing stalled: Flawed tests, red tape and resistance to using the millions of tests produced by the WHO that it was and is the lack of the ability to do widespread testing. This lack of testing has complicated our situational awareness and made us blind as to where the disease is now active--before it comes down us like a sledge hammer.

More new types of tests continue to be developed, but the genie is out of the bottle and we will be playing catch-up for the rest of this crisis.

The "Nail" is the inability to do testing.
