Job: Criminal Cyber Analyst

An example of the more technical aspect of new jobs in emergency management.

In the 21st Century new skills will be needed to compete for the types of positions that will be part of the emergency management workforce.  As an example, see Criminal Cyber Analyst

You may be thinking that the position based on its title is strictly law enforcement oriented.  See two job duties that I extracted from the list of what this position does to show the cross departmental connection to emergency management and homeland security:

  •  Briefs at a classified or unclassified level, the VTIAC Director, the Homeland Security Advisor, and other federal, state, local and private stakeholders on cyber threats potentially affecting Vermont, the region or the United States.
  • Works with Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security to plan, conduct or participate in exercises related to cyber issues.
Eric Holdeman is a contributing writer for Emergency Management magazine and is the former director of the King County, Wash., Office of Emergency Management.
