Microsoft Buys LinkedIn, Because ...

Things are not always what they seem.

Microsoft, if they don't have a gangbuster smartphone or other innovations, they at least have money. With that money they are spending billions buying LinkedIn, the social media site for working professionals.

I found it very interesting that one stated purpose I read was not about LinkedIn, but access to the professionals who are part of that network. And it was really about expanding their cloud business. They are behind the curve with their cloud in comparison to Amazon.com so they are, once again, trying to catch-up by acquiring other companies.

I personally am hoping they will bring back a feature that LinkedIn once had: a one-click button to import a LinkedIn contact's information into Contacts in Exchange. You would think they would do this — immediately, once the purchase is completed.
