Yes, there is a downside to moral convictions. Listen to this Hidden Brain Podcast "Moral Combat" and you will likely have several "aha's" about yourself and others. 

This is an excellent example of our current political climate where moral convictions can cause political adherents on both sides of an issue to ignore facts that defy what they believe. 

When operating in an Emergency Operations Center (EOC), be sure you are dealing with facts and not someone's moral convictions that could be skewing the truth.
