New ISO Standard for Disaster Response, Recovery and Business Continuity

Everyone will eventually be evaluated by a standard.

Many people reject the idea of having standards. I know people howled when NFPA 1600 came out, and we also have the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP)

Now there is another new one,ISO/TS 22330:2018 that is fresh off the presses.

I was in a meeting a couple of months ago when some law enforcement officers were saying that they didn't agree with an NFPA Standard for Active Shooter/Hostile Event Response (ASHER) Program , because they could not perform to that standard.

Guess what — if there is a shooting that goes badly, and people get sued, that standard will be used as a ruler that they are measured by. Standards are here to stay and they are not going away anytime soon.
